About Our Redevelopment
The proposed $100 million redevelopment project at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has been approved. The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long Term Care was at the hospital on August 24 to make the exciting announcement. The approved project includes a 15-bed adult mental health inpatient unit , a new emergency department, modernized surgical suites and a centralized ambulatory care program.

Key Milestones:
- 2008 – Planning grant awarded by MOHLTC
- May 2009 – met with MOHLTC to discuss status of Stage 1 submission
- July 2009 – Stage 1 Submission to MOHLTC
- Nov 2009 – Hosted MOHLTC Capital Planning Group to discuss Stage 1 Submission
- Jan 2010 – Met with MOHLTC Team Lead and CEO, SWLHIN to discuss Stage 1 Submission.
- April 2010 - Met with Minister Deb Matthews and MPP Steve Peters to discuss project
